Three doctoral researchers from the first ILESLA cohort are bringing new perspectives to the Ecosystems Lab. From soil biodiversity and species reintroductions to forest-atmosphere feedbacks, their projects span disciplines while exploring different dimensions of ecosystem research.

Researchers from the Ecosystems and Biodiversity Programme presented their latest work at ATBC 2026 in China, sharing new insights into tropical forests, biodiversity and ecosystem function, with Prof Yadvinder Malhi delivering one of the conference's keynote plenary lectures.

Members of the Ecosystems Lab travelled to the Gower Peninsula for a weekend of fieldwork, community engagement, and ecological discovery. From pollinator traps and moth surveys to bat walks, acoustic monitoring, and conversations with the local community, the visit explored how this landscape could support nature recovery, education, and reconnection with the natural world.
